Ski resort Schladming - everything but boring!

Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm: These 4 mountains connect via a sophisticated lift system for continuous skiing fun on 123 kilometers of pistes. Magnificent mountain landscapes with overwhelming panoramas characterize this ski area in Styria.

Perfect winter sports conditions for families

The Hauser Kaibling is the perfect family mountain for many. The Wollis Kidspark offers young beginners a top-class practice area on 24,000 m2. Other children's areas with fun offers can be found on the Planai and Reiteralm.

Those who are already fitter on skis can put their skills to the test on the XXL Funslope on bumps and steep turns. A free speed check, the "Almhüttensprung" at the end of the Crosspark and a sound slope add variety to the Schladming ski area.

Relaxed winter sports fans can take a seat on the pleasure island at the summit of Hauser Kaibling and let their gaze glide over the mountain peaks into the distance. Numerous mountain huts provide refreshments and a soothing break during your skiing holiday.

Sports challenges on the piste

The legendary 4.6 km long FIS downhill run on the Planai is a must for experienced skiers.

This is skiing at world championship level! The funcross on the Planai is ideal for experienced winter sports enthusiasts.

With a gradient of 80%, the Black Quartett on the Reiteralm offers some challenges even for pros.

Night skiing on the Hochwurzen is a wonderful experience.

The Schladming ski resort is also suitable for winter hiking, tobogganing and enjoyment

Whether snowboarding, cross-country skiing, fat biking, winter hiking or tobogganing - the Schladming ski resort has the right offer for every winter sport. The 3 km long winter hiking trail on the Planai opens up relaxing views of the Dachstein massif. Sledging fans will love the 7 km long toboggan run, which can even be used after dark.

FAQs: Frequently asked questions about Schladming's Skiwelt

When does the ski season start and end in Schladming?

The official ski opening takes place in Schladming at the beginning of December with one of the biggest ski parties in Austria. In 2023, Robbie Williams took to the stage on December 7 and 8. In 2025 in December, it will be the Backstreet Boys who open the ski season. Certain ski mountains such as the Planai open their slopes at the end of November. Depending on the weather and snow conditions, the ski season usually ends in mid-April.

What ski pass options are available?

There is a large selection of day, multi-day and season tickets. The price depends, among other things, on whether you are on the slopes in high season or low season (early December and April). You can find an up-to-date overview of the tariffs here.

Is the Schladming ski area also suitable for beginners and families?

Many practice areas and special kids' worlds - such as the 24,000 m² practice area of the Wollis Kids Park on Hauser Kaibling - ensure that everyone gets their money's worth. In addition, many ski instructors look forward to teaching you how to ski, snowboard and cross-country ski. If you ever need a breather: Tobogganing is fun for young and old, fat biking transfers cycling to winter and on ski tours you conquer the peaks on boards. With winter and snowshoe hiking, you can move through the snow-covered landscape in a "gentle way".

Where can you find the best après-ski locations in Schladming?

The most popular spots include the Hohenhaus Tenne on the Planai, the Schirmbar Tenne, the Hohenhaus and the AlmArenA in Haus im Ennstal. There is always something going on right by the valley stations.
